As persistent strong easterlies greet my return from the UK and further afield, I thought I would start off a new thread for the postbreeding migration, since a large flock of Bee-eaters passed over the house yesterday.  Any other members anything to report yet?

I've seen no raptor action here in Gaucin, though others have reported 'several hundred' Black Kite moving through towards the end of last week. We've had Willow Warbler and Bonelli's Warbler in the garden in the past couple of days, both of which were presumably on their way south.

For the last 3 or 4 weeks we have been having Bee eaters going over, migrating at night too. Our local ones left ages ago.

Black Kites, Short toed Eagles, Swifts and Swallows have been going too.

Finally, some Black Kite movement....250+ south-west of Gaucin yesterday afternoon. Willow Warblers are moving through and House Martins and Bee-eaters are grouping up.

A change to westerly winds has brought more Black Kite and the first Honey Buzzard over Gaucin; also, in amongst them, an adult Egyptian Vulture.

Migration in full flow now with hundreds of Honey Buzzard, Black Kite, Booted Eagle and European Bee-eater and smaller numbers of Short-toed Eagle all moving through. Pied Flycatcher can be seen in the cork oak woods and the occasional Eurasian Hoopoe puts in an appearance.

Still a trickle of raptors moving through over Gaucin with small numbers of Booted Eagle and Short-toed Eagle and the occasional Egyptian Vulture, Honey Buzzard and Black Kite. Lots of Pied Flycatcher this year - they seem to be everywhere.
