I thought I would start posting a thread on Butterflies on 'my patch' and start with a series of photographs, this one of a Scarce Swallowtail Iphiclides podalirius feisthamelii taken by Penny Hale (famous local Moth person) at Cueva del Gato. Ironically this species, despite its name is more common in our area than Swallowtail Papilio machaon.

Although a common butterfly in the area, this species Swallowtail Papilio machaon is less common than the previous Scarce Swallowtail. The picture here was taken by Mick Richardson.
