Title: Field meeting for June 2018 to the penon de Zaframagon Olvera
Post by: Franky no Hair on March 31, 2018, 11:01:33 am
Event
ABS field meeting to the Penon de Zaframagon Olvera
Date
June 16th 2018
Meeting Point
Hotel Estación Vía Verde Olvera
Time
9.30
Leader for the day
Frank Hair

Directions to the meeting point
Check the internet from your area,  The Estacion is at the start of the via verde in Olvera, if you type the meeting point into google maps you will find it.  At the moment there is a diversion at the top of the hill but this should be gone by June, if not I will meet at a different point.

Information about the meeting
I plan to drive to the car park 2km from the information center and walk to the viaduct under the penon.  The information center now has a coffee shop so I intend to have lunch here, I will be bringing a packed lunch but the coffee shop has some food.

Accommodation in the area
We have no corporate members in Olvera so check the internet.  We have 3 hotels in the town plus lots of houses to rent. Via airbnb and booking.com.

Clothing and food
It is June and we will be exposed so bring hats and plenty of water.  Drinks are available in the coffee shop.

Possible birds.
Griffon Vulture. Egyptian Vulture, Short-toed Eagle, Booted Eagle, Bonelli's Eagle, Lesser Kestrel, Little Owl, Alpine Swift, Bee-eater, Thekla Lark, Crag Martin, Red-rumped Swallow, Nightingale, Blue rock thrush, Dartford Warbler, Subalpine Warbler, Cetti's Warbler, Chough, Golden Oriole are just a few.

We will be looking for a member to write a trip report for this meeting.
