Title: White Iris planifolia
Post by: Brenda on January 07, 2013, 06:09:05 pm

I found several of these white Iris planifolia today. (Hypochromic is the correct term I believe). The blue ones are covering all the mountain plains at the moment.

The second photograph is their normal colouring though it does vary from very pale blue, to an almost purple.

Hi Brenda.

I was out with Bob Wright and Juan Perez today up Sierra de Loja, we also had masses of the Iris but did not see any white one (I have in past years). We did see some nice birds including Ringed Ouzel, Alpine Accentor and down on the Huetor Fields we had Little Bustards, Stone Curlews, 18 Stock Doves and Bramblings.

Mick.

Hi Brenda

Never seen a white one before - they look quite nice!

Managed to photograph a Fan-lipped Orchid today, which also have a white form I haven't seen. Now have three species of orchid in flower at the moment down here on the coast!

Will post photo later.
