Title: Iris in flower already
Post by: Brenda on December 20, 2013, 11:25:08 am

This photo was taken at the ABS meeting on the 14th December. It is an Iris planifolia, Broad-leaved iris, or in Spanish, Lirio de invierno. It often starts flowering in late November and continues until March in some areas.

It grows in Portugal, southern Spain, Sardinia, Sicily, Crete and Morocco and grows from 10-25cms tall.

I have been informed by a Spanish Botanist friend that this Iris is now called Juno planifolia.
