Hola gente.
We are returning to Andalucia in early December, planning to spend time
in and around the sierra de grazalema, Ubrique area.
My question is, will Alpine Accentors have arrived in the area by this
time?, as it would be good to see them in the area if possible.
Or, would it be a better idea to visit the sierra de Nevada?
However, if at all possible to see them around Grazalema we would
rather persevere there.
Muchas Gracias por su ayudarme

The person who could help you with this question, namely Peter Jones, is away at the moment, and for another week. Please can you ask again after the 6th October?

Hello Waine.

As Brenda has said Peter is the best person to give you information on this area but I can give you a couple of pointers. The highest view point and the car parking area on the road between Grazalema and Zahara called Puerto de las Polomas is one area that I have seen Accentors. They are also regular but more difficult to locate with out a guide in the Libar valley which runs from Montejaque.
As for Sierra Nevada by December there will be a lot of snow up in the hills there and most of the Accentors will have moved to lower levels into areas like Sierra de Loja and other lower ranges but they do take some finding unless you now the areas well.

All the best Mick.
