I photographed these Mediterranean palms today. I have never seen any like this before, like a tree. I have been told that they can reach 3 metres tall and 500 years old.

These were at least 2 metres tall, so they must be several hundred years old and have survived without suffering fire.
Their Latin name is Chamaerops humilis.
