Title: New ABS Logo
Post by: Peter on August 03, 2009, 10:51:05 pm
As you will see from the attachment I have designed a new logo for comment and/or suggestions. It was clear from the many remarks passed on the old logo, that Cream-coloured Courser was not a popular choice. From the many suggestions made, Little Swift and White-rumped Swift seemed to be the clear winners among suggested bird/s to be incorporated.

And so over to our forumers to say a yea or a nay.  ;)

Err, they are both supposed to be identical are they?  Anyway, a thumbs up from me.

The second image is a little bigger than the first.

The picture is very nice though.
Good work

Thanks to the eagle-eyed Mosca, I can now see the difference.

Thanks and I posted a second logo on the same theme, which is larger and fills the box. I think IMHO that this larger image of the birds works better. But then again I am open to suggestions and more (please) comments.

Good work and I like the second image (larger) better. More balanced in my view. See you at the birdfair, only 2 weeks now! Will bring some old binos for your Moroccan project.

Like your thinking but, surely, the same applies as that of the Courser.  Why select birds that the majority will not see or be unable to identify with?  (Pardon ending the sentence with a preposition!)

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the forum. I think it is true to say that whatever bird/s appear in the logo, someone, somewhere will have reservations. I and one or two others quite fancied Woodchat Shrike, but by far and away the most popular were the two swifts shown in the latest design. I guess they are, or at least the Little Swift, emblematic for Andalucia. It is still the only area where you 'can' see both in Iberia, so I understood the vote for these birds. I can see what you mean about the C-c Courser, but I have to admit this bird is far less likely than the swifts. So the design was driven by popular demand.

All the best,
Peter
