Title: 2013.07.08 Day of scientific bird ringing at Montes de Malaga
Post by: Luis Alberto Birdaytrip on July 09, 2013, 07:34:18 pm
Poor performance at the station today as heat has not settled in Los Montes yet and a moderate to fresh breeze has lashed the site for the whole morning.

Apart from the concurrence of three males of Scops Owl singing at daybreak, the site has showed a clearly lower level of activity this morning.

This fact was reflected in the amount of captures (from daybreak to 12:00): 2 Robins (1 retrapped, 2 juveniles), 1 Blackcap (retrapped), 1 Sardinian Warbler (juvenile), 1 Great Tit (juvenile), 2 Blue Tits (1 retrapped, 1 juvenile), 2 Long-tailed Tits (1 juvenile), 2 Chaffinches (1 juvenile) and 1 Goldfinch.

Total: 12 individuals of 8 different species. 7 juveniles in total (58%).

3 individuals retrapped: 1 Robin (ringed as a juvenile two weeks ago), 1 Blackcap (male ringed as an adult in December 2012) and 1 Blue Tit (ringed as an adult in December 2009, an old friend of ours!).
