Title: Laguna de Fuente de Piedra
Post by: gmandel on May 05, 2014, 07:57:02 am
Hi-

Am driving by Laguna de Fuente de Piedra on Wednesday. Does anyone have any information or advice on trying to find the Lesser Flamingos there?

Thanks,
Greg Mandel

Hi Greg,

You will need a telescope to increase your chances of seeing them. It is then a matter of visiting all the viewing areas around the Laguna and scanning the flocks of Flamingoes. I am sure you are aware that you are looking for birds that are smaller and have pinker plumages than the Greater Flamingoes.

Have there been any recent sightings ?, the latest I could track for this site was March 2016 (via ABS Facebook).

I am driving from Malaga to Ronda tomorrow and was thinking of taking a detour to have a search. Is it worth it ?. Surely this is a well watched site and the information would be out there, somewhere.
